We came from a small town with a group of three families, hoping to see the mountain scenery, but ultimately opted for the Helambu Trek. The trek was easy to observe the mountains, with great hospitality from the HGT. Marilyn M. Darling - Italy

Helambu Trek
Overview

The short and sweet experience of the trek that comes first on the list is the Helambu Trek, located at a maximum altitude of 3,800 m above sea level. It lies in the eastern part of Kathmandu, in the Langtang region. The trek is popular as a hike, and the proximity to stunning mountain views of the Mt. Langtang Ranges, Mt. Ganesh, Mt. Jugal, Mt. Dorje Lhakpa, and Mt. Everest as well.

The trekkers have limited time to experience the Himalayan lifestyle; the Helambu Trek is the best option. Which offers the unparalleled beauty of nature along with snow-capped mountain vistas. Helambu Trek covers unique geography; as the trail climbs up and down, we observe the beauty of less-vegetation ridges, lush valleys, and an impressive tunnel of rhododendron forests.

The cluster of lush forests around the glowing Pashupatinath Temple in the middle attracts everyone's attention. Our tour continues; we go to popular Buddhist stupas, Boudhanath, and Swayambhunath. The sirens are devotional centers for pilgrims and visitors. We conclude our tour and go back to the hotel. Overnight in Kathmandu.

We wake up in the morning and have an early breakfast, then set off for Sundarijal by boarding the private vehicle. It is quite a wonderful journey to see congested places and experience the rushing daily lives of people. We soon get out of it while close to reaching Sundarijal and get different environments. Then, we begin hiking and ascending, which gradually takes us to a higher altitude. It will be the most beautiful moment on the first day of the trek. The trail follows stone staircases and yellowish-soil paths. We pass many stunning, lush valleys, dense tunnel forests, and terraced agriculture fields. Overnight in Chisapani.

The uphill and downhill open-widen trail move ahead through the dense vegetation of rhododendron, silky oak, juniper trees, and many others. As we move further ahead, we pass lush cluster valleys, colorful Buddhist chortens, and soothing streams. Overnight in Kutumsang.

We wake up in the morning and have breakfast in the tea house, then begin the trek, which moves steadily at higher levels. The trail goes, from time to time, downs and ups all the way to Thadepati. The landscapes of the horizon surrounding the snow-capped mountain of Dorje Lhakpa, blooming rhododendron trees, and lush valleys are eye-catching. The trek mainly covers hilly geography, which is quite peaceful and interesting. Overnight in Thadepati.

We wake up in the morning and move on to the hilltop of Thadepati, just about 200 meters away from our tea house. We observe magnificant sunrise views of Mt. Langtang, Mt. Dorje Lhakpa, Mt. Gang Chhenpo, Mt. Ganesh Himal, and many more. The lush forest ridges and less-vegetation hilly meadows in the horizontal lines are an additional attraction of the trek. Then we go back to Thadepati for breakfast. We descend down through the stoney stairways, where we see mostly the vegetation of rhododendron and pine trees. Overnight in Tarke Ghyang.
