Overview
Janakpurdham is located in the southern part of Nepal at an elevation of 74 km above sea level. The geography of Janakpurdham is flat and pretty straight. The lowlands are surrounded by lush ridges at a very long distance from the settlements. Janakpurdham is known as the home of the goddess Sita, and there is a beautiful Janaki temple made by Queen Vrisha Bhanu of India that is dedicated to the goddess Sita. The three-story temple is mixed Mugul style and uniquley architecture.
In the surroundings of Janaki Temple, there is another beautiful temple inside where the ritual activities are performed. On the side, there is a cultural museum and Janaki Animation as well. The museum is full of famous Mithila art. The art is well revered in Janakapur. We see the electrified and movable sacred activities of statues. Janakpurdham is also known as the city of lakes. There are many lakes that are used for boating as well as holy activities. We visit Gangashahar in the evening and take part in a special ritual activity.
Dhanushadham is a religious and historical place where Lord Ram broke the bow, but the piece of it seems like the spanning fossilized roots of a tree. The surroundings of the place are very peaceful. We begin a hike around the pristine villages of Janakpurdham, where the majority of homes are used for colorful Mithila art with a combination of past and present activity. Homemade, pure sweet products are also popular in Janakpur. We try to taste what we want.
