Trek Itinerary for Helambu Trek
Day 1: Drive from Kathmandu to Sundarijal (1,460m / 4,790 ft), Trek to Chisapani (2,215m / 7,267 ft)
Drive from Kathmandu to Sundarijal, a scenic spot just outside the city (about 1 hour).
Start the trek, ascending through Shivapuri National Park with its lush forests and waterfalls.
Continue to Chisapani, offering great views of Langtang and Ganesh Himal mountains.
Trekking time: 4-5 hours.
Overnight stay in Chisapani.
Day 2: Trek from Chisapani to Kutumsang (2,470m / 8,103 ft)
Begin the trek through terraced fields, forests, and Tamang villages.
Enjoy views of the Himalayas, with a mix of uphill and downhill trails.
Reach Kutumsang, a peaceful village with mountain views.
Trekking time: 6-7 hours.
Overnight stay in Kutumsang.
Day 3: Trek from Kutumsang to Thadepati (3,650m / 11,975 ft)
A steady ascent through rhododendron and pine forests, with fewer villages along the way.
Pass through Mangengoth and other small settlements.
Arrive at Thadepati, the highest point of the trek, where you’ll have panoramic views of the Langtang range.
Trekking time: 5-6 hours.
Overnight stay in Thadepati.
Day 4: Trek from Thadepati to Tarkeghyang (2,590m / 8,497 ft)
Descend steeply through forests, crossing rivers and passing villages.
Reach Tarkeghyang, one of the largest Sherpa villages in the Helambu region, known for its ancient Buddhist monastery and traditional stone houses.
Trekking time: 5-6 hours.
Overnight stay in Tarkeghyang.
Day 5: Trek from Tarkeghyang to Sermathang (2,610m / 8,563 ft)
A more gradual trek along ridges, with excellent mountain and valley views.
Pass through beautiful Sherpa villages like Gangyul and enjoy the serene atmosphere.
Reach Sermathang, another large Sherpa village with a monastery and a view of the Jugal Himal range.
Trekking time: 5-6 hours.
Overnight stay in Sermathang.
Day 6: Trek from Sermathang to Melamchi Bazaar (870m / 2,854 ft), Drive back to Kathmandu
A gradual descent through villages and terraced fields.
Reach Melamchi Bazaar, a bustling town in the valley.
Drive back to Kathmandu (approx. 3-4 hours).
Trekking time: 4-5 hours.
